PLAYDATES AND TRANSPORTATION CHANGES

Parents should make any transportation and playdate arrangements in ADVANCE of sending children to school. Parents are provided a pad of “going home” notes at the beginning of the year. Children must bring a signed note to the teacher in the morning for any time there is a change of transportation, and for playdates. For playdates, BOTH students are required to bring in a note indicating they have permission to go home with a friend / bring home a friend. Should an emergency arise for which a change in transportation is needed during the day, parents should call the front office for assistance.

Walkers

School safety patrols and /or crossing guards are stationed at major or hazardous intersections. Walkers should walk only on sidewalks and should cross streets only at intersections. Parents, please use the school crosswalk to walk from the parking lot. Do not cut through the grassy area or cross Reservation Drive in a non-crosswalk area.

BUS RIDERS

Bus transportation is provided to students who live more than one mile from the school or when an unsafe walking situation exists.  School bus riders in Fairfax County are required to observe rules of SAFETY and GOOD CITIZENSHIP while riding on a bus and while waiting at a designated bus stop.  Standards for safe, courteous conduct will be in effect beginning with the first day of school.  It is essential that bus riders cooperate and adhere to the bus regulations.  All students/parents will receive a copy of STUDENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES which include bus policies, which is also located on the website.  Bus regulations govern field trips as well as daily transportation.  Violation of bus safety rules may result in a loss of bus riding privileges.

CAR RIDERS

The Kiss and Ride area around the parking lot is the only designated area for student drop-off and pick-up.

STATE LAW PROHIBITS CARS FROM PASSING SCHOOL BUSES WHEN THEIR LIGHTS ARE FLASHING. THIS APPLIES TO BUSES IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL.  VIOLATORS COULD BE CHARGED.  Please note that all established procedures will be enforced during inclement weather.
