Sangster Elementary School Celebrates Math and Art Success
Sangster Elementary School is buzzing with excitement after two impressive achievements in academics and the arts. The school community is celebrating the MATHCOUNTS team's first-place victory and the success of students in the PTA Reflections program.
MATHCOUNTS Team Makes History
The Sangster Elementary School MATHCOUNTS team has secured a first-place win at the George Washington Chapter Competition, earning a coveted spot in the state competition. This is only the second time in Sangster's history that a team has reached this level.
Damian, Vanya, Aaron, and Eren demonstrated mathematical prowess and teamwork throughout the competition. Their impressive performance earned them the top spot among competing schools, solidifying their place as one of the region's top math teams.
Adding to the school's success, two students also achieved top individual rankings. Damian earned first place in the individual competition, while Vanya placed fourth, further showcasing the depth of talent within the Sangster MATHCOUNTS program.
Ten students from Sangster competed in the chapter competition, all demonstrating their commitment to mathematical excellence. The school community extends its congratulations to each student for their participation and contributions to the team's success.
The team will now advance to the MATHCOUNTS State Competition, where they will face off against other top teams from across the state. They will continue to prepare and hone their skills in anticipation of the upcoming challenge.
Artistic Achievements in PTA Reflections
Sangster also celebrated the artistic talents of its students in the PTA Reflections program. This program encourages students to explore various art forms, including drawings, songs, dances, and movies, around a central theme. This year’s theme was “Accepting Imperfection.”
The school community congratulates all the participants for their creativity and hard work. A special congratulations goes out to our school winners Elena, Caroline, Rachel, Cosmo, Naomi, Zara, Quinn, Yeji, and Chelsea, and an even bigger shoutout to Charlie, who took 2nd place county-wide! We are immensely proud of Charlie’s achievement and the artistic expression of all the students involved in the Reflections program. The PTA Reflections program highlights the importance of art education and provides a platform for students to showcase their talents.
