2nd Grade Scoop November 2018

Reading Essential Question: What can help me understand non-fiction texts? (Charts, pictures, captions)

Comprehension Skill Focus: What questions do charts and graphs answer?

Oral Language Focus: Sharing Turkey projects, following directions, and hearing the long vowel patterns in words.

Math Standards covered:  Addition and subtraction Measurement

DREAMBOX CHALLENGE – Keep up the lessons!

Word Study Skills:  Review of Vowels and Consonants and focus on short vowel pattern

Writing Focus:  Continue “Writer’s workshop”, understand stories have a problem and a solution within their beginning, middle, and end.

Science Standards covered:  Matter and Magnets: Finish with properties of magnets and the 3 major forms of matter.

Social Studies Standards covered: American Indians Begin with one of the 3 regions in the U.S. where the American Indians lived and U.S. Geography

Thanksgiving Lunch:  Friday, Nov.16th we will have our family Thanksgiving in the cafeteria.

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday the children must bring a bag lunch from home and we will have guest readers while the children eat in the classroom.
