February Kindergarten Connection
In Language Arts, we will explore nonfiction texts and learn about nonfiction text features. During Writers Workshop we will use writing and drawing to compose informative texts that introduce a topic. We will apply our knowledge of letter sounds and practice spacing, early punctuation, and capitalization. We will practice using sight words in our writing.
Kindergarten mathematicians will explore the concept of composing and decomposing numbers to 5. Kindergarteners will combine two sets to show the number we have altogether and break apart a group into two sets to show the parts that make a whole.
Kindergarten scientists will learn that shadows occur when light is blocked. We will predict if the groundhog will see his shadow! Kindergarteners will make weather observations and consider how weather can change quickly throughout the day and how the seasons affect weather. In Social Studies we will learn about President’s Day.
