  April-Kindergarten

In Language Arts we continue to use the Daily Five format to support reading growth. We will apply phonemic awareness skills by determining order of speech sounds and blending and segmenting multi-syllabic words. We will learn about digraphs and retell stories orally using beginning, middle, and end structure. In Writer’s Workshop we will practice writing “how to” books.

In Math we will identify a penny, nickel, dime and quarter. We will learn their values and determine how many pennies equal a nickel, dime, and quarter. We will we move into our Geometry unit and learn to identify, describe, and trace a circle, square, rectangle and triangle.

In Science our students will explore whether certain items will sink or float when placed in water. We will also learn about taking care of our planet by reusing, reducing and recycling our resources.
